The rise of Fantasy Sports: virtual teams, real achievements.

The domain of ‘Fantasy Sports’ is becoming increasingly popular; it involves organizing sports pools based on real sporting events, such as World Cups, European Championships, Formula 1, and the Tour de France. The user assembles a virtual team of real athletes and can earn points based on real-life statistics, which are converted into fantasy points. The better the specific athletes perform in real life, the higher the fantasy points.

Why does Dutch Sport Tech Fund invest in Scorito

The company

In 2010, Scorito.com was founded; a platform that creates sports pools for family, friends, and colleagues. Scorito’s main objective is to distinguish itself from other providers in terms of user-friendliness, speed, game quality, and background information. Scorito offers paid subscriptions for individuals and also has a client base consisting of companies, which can, for example, make use of advertising space in the app.

The market

With 1.2 million users, the company can now call itself the market leader in the Netherlands. In addition, Scorito is active in several European countries, including Belgium, Germany, Spain, and England.

Due to its strong market position and the scalability of the platform, Scorito proved to be an attractive investment for the Dutch Sport Tech Fund. There are many synergistic connections with other investments (for example, Scorito has a large network of fans of specific sports), which enables cross-pollination.

The expectation

Through the collaboration with Dutch Sport Tech Fund, the company will be able to develop new revenue models, allowing it to grow even larger both in the Netherlands and abroad. Scorito’s goal: to become the market leader in all European countries where it is active!
