The company

The founders of Aphetor are two INSEAD alumni who have earned their stripes in sports media at the C-level. Aphetor offers an app on which playlists can be developed for individual users; they have a strategic partnership with TikTok and several event partners, including Supertri. The social media channels of their own creators (posting 10 times a day) account for 2 million followers. Previous tests resulted in 120 million views.

The market

Generation Z consumes media and (sports) content completely differently from previous generations. 75% consume via mobile phones and 70% only through social media. They often don’t even own a TV anymore. They prefer being online over playing sports themselves. These facts require profound adjustments from brands, sponsors, media companies, and traditional sports organizations. Aphetor will offer Generation Z consumers their own heroes who inspire them, on formats and channels with the interactivity they love, through a community of co-creators they build themselves.

The expectation

Aphetor has found the optimal mix to add 8-12x in value within 3 years, reaching a valuation of $100M. Their partnerships with existing events enable fast and efficient scaling (multiple events with one partner, leveraging existing mass event organization).
