Teun de Nooijer joins
the management team of DSTF
as Chief Information Officer

We are very proud to announce that Teun de Nooijer, record international, is joining the management team of Dutch Sport Tech Fund as Chief Information Officer (CIO). He succeeds Chiel Warners, who stepped down earlier this year. With his background as a top athlete (3x world’s best hockey player), coach, and businessman, De Nooijer brings a great mix of skills and perspectives to his new role. His experience in building winning teams, both on the sports field and in business, is extremely important for promoting innovation and vitality in sports.

A new role as Chief Information Officer

Since May last year, De Nooijer has been active at DSTF in the Innovation Committee, where he evaluated potential investments in startups and scale-ups. His focus was not only on the potential of the product or service, but especially on the human capital behind the company. This approach will remain central in his new role.

About his new role, he says: “My role as CIO encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities. From managing investments and scouting new opportunities, to working closely with young entrepreneurs and organizations that focus on innovation within sports technology.”

About his new role, he says: “My role as CIO encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities. From managing investments and scouting new opportunities, to working closely with young entrepreneurs and organizations that focus on innovation within sports technology.”

“Twenty years ago, I first came into contact with sports technology as a top athlete.”

The combination of his passion for sports, his experience in the business world, and the connection with the people within DSTF were decisive for this next step. He is a ‘connector’ within the management team, with his extensive network in both the sports world and the business sector offering a unique added value.

Alexander Janssen, CEO of Dutch Sport Tech Fund, emphasizes the impact of the appointment: “To be able to welcome Teun de Nooijer as a colleague is, of course, a wonderful and valuable addition to our company, both as a person and as a professional. Not only is he an icon in Dutch sports history, but he also brings much more of what our company needs. Teun has a knack for ‘our’ goal, namely bringing together innovative sports companies and passionate, capable people who want to invest in the future of those companies. Teun also understands what venture capitalists need; at headhunter McDermott + Bull, he is also responsible for this niche market.”

Ambitions

De Nooijer has a clear vision of the role of DSTF in supporting athletes and sports-related businesses. His focus is on building a solid track record and successfully supporting the current participations.

He says: “Sport and vitality deserve more attention in today’s society. Sufficient exercise and our health are under pressure. This is not just about elite sports. Exercise is also about ‘feeling good in your own skin’, performing well, a matter of vitality. I am happy to commit myself to this, so that even more people can perform sustainably. I see a lot of potential in investing in sports technology.”

One of the greatest hockey players of all time

De Nooijer is considered one of the greatest hockey players of all time. He played more than 450 international matches for the Dutch National Team and became World, European, and Olympic champion. With his club Bloemendaal, he also won the Dutch championship nine times.
After his career as a player, De Nooijer focused on creating winning teams. He did this as a coach in sports, as a keynote speaker, and now as a partner at McDermott + Bull Europe. In addition, De Nooijer is involved in various social initiatives aimed at promoting sports and health.

The addition of De Nooijer to the management board is an inspiring step forward in DSTF’s mission. With his experience, network, and passion for sports and innovation, De Nooijer is excellently positioned to take DSTF to new heights.
